Maybe God isn't a belief system.

Where would that leave us?

Kay, i've actually read that book and LOVE IT! I actually <a href="http://jeffrey-davis.net/blog/2006/07/08/the-truth-i-know-but-didnt-know-i-knew/" rel="nofollow">posted on it</a> back in June.

Mike, I see where you're coming from. But personally, when I slice it down as far as I can, I'm still staring face to face with the reality that regardless of how much and which parts of the process are "all God", there is still a human cause that dictates the effect...from the traditional perspective that is.

One question would be, "what is the alternative".

Not quite sure where you're coming from on this one. The "accept Christ" then "go to heaven" cause-effect you describe is only true from our limited point of view. God does the "saving", "by grace through faith". Accepting Christ - the faith part - comes third; before that, it's all God. No amount of good deeds or moral choices will earn a ticket to heaven without the application of Christ's death for our sins.
