What would you do if you were ambushed by an axe-murderer but you realized just in time to do something about it…if you wanted to?
Would you fight him off…even killing him if necessary?
Would you try to reason with him?
Would you let him go about his business, bringing an end to your life in this physical world?
Here’s the important question: Why did you choose the answer you did?
Yeah, I know this post seems random and makes no sense whatsoever. Nevertheless, I’d love to hear some responses. A friend of mine recently asked me a similar question and I discovered a moral dilemma upon considering my answer.
Yesterday Shaunna and I went down to Riverfront Park here in Nashville to take in the sights of the 2007 Red Bull Flugtag with our friends Rick and Heather. Here are a couple of pics from the day, with more at my flickr photo set of the event.
Rick, Heather, Shaunna, and I also had an evening on the town on Friday night, having some coffee and dessert at Cafe CoCo, then heading over to 12th & Porter to take in the astounding musical experience that is a new band called Telfaire.
These guys are, at risk of sounding “groupy-ish”, inexplicable. You owe it to yourself to check out both their musical talents and the depth, honesty, and creativity of their lyrics at their myspace.
Hmm, that’s interesting. Check out his blog and myspace for more convo…there’s some good exchange going on at his myspace about it now, as a matter of fact.
Every now and then I come across a song or a quote that just strikes that same note as the tuning fork within my soul…and it rings in perfect harmony.
Yesterday I read such a quote in a book and today I heard a song of the same nature…just thought I’d share:
The quote:
“The mind that opens to a new idea never comes back its original size.”
The lyrics:
“I just found out theres no such thing as the real world Just a lie you’ve got to rise above … Id like to think the best of me Is still hiding up my sleeve … They love to tell you stay inside the lines But somethings better on the other side … I am invincible I am invincible I am invincible As long as I’m alive.”
Care to take a stab at who the artist and who the sage is from these quotes?
If you didn’t know, News Channel 2, WKRN, has paved the way for stations all over the country in the area of media blogging.
Nashville is Talking (NiT) is THE go-to place for what Nashville bloggers are talking about. Up until today, Brittney Gilbert has been the local and professional blog wrangler for the station. Unfortunately, she unexpectedly turned in her resignation today.
The reason? People who say things on the internet that they have not the gall to say to her face.
Check out her fare-well post at NiT and her post about it on her personal blog, which she says will become even more “kick-ass” now that she can devote more time and effort to it.
News 2 video journalist Jamey Tucker writes a blog called Faith and Ethics. Yesterday he posted an intriguing article regarding the “blasphemy challenge” issued by the “Rational Response Squad”.
His post is complete with one of about 1300 videos on YouTube of people quite literally denouncing the Holy Spirit.
Head on over to his place and take a look at the video, or head on over to YouTube and search for some more.
Any thoughts on the matter? Do you have any insights or questions into the “doctrine” of the Holy Spirit? I’d love to hear them.
I'm Jeffrey Davis: writer, blogger, personal trainer, and soon-to-be published author. I totally dig eco-friendliness, but eco-snobbery sucks. This is my personal blog where I completely shoot from the hip with any topic, pic, video, or quote that I find funny, thought-provoking, or interesting. Enjoy.
