I love that quote by Holmes. It's in an old spiral bound notebook I still have. Another one from my notebook: "I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than closed by belief." - gerry spence

hey thanks for chiming in dave. i'm glad that something prompted you out of the proverbial darkness of and that you have graced me (and anyone else reading) with your thoughts.

[aside: i think that might actually be why i blog...to not depend on my own ideas as THE ideas by listening to the thoughts of others...or maybe not?]

anyway, i checked into your info about the origin of that quote and found that the way I have it worded (which is how it was worded in the book I'm reading) actually is from good ole' Al Einstein. I also found the VERY similar quote you mentioned to truly be from Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Maybe Eintetin was influenced by Holmes' writings and decided to rip him off... ;-)

I think the actual quote is:

"Man's mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimension."
--Oliver Wendell Holmes

Jeffrey...I'm new to posting here, but not new to the site. Great blog.

I'll go ahead and tell ya who the sage is as well...it's actually a quote from Albert Einstein. Who'd have thought?

Glad you liked the brew...Killian's Irish Red can be hard to beat.
