Rethinking reality as we know it

349Happy Thanksgiving From the YMCA Tomahawk

posted by Jeffrey on November 21st, 2007

Here’s the image in an email the downtown Nashville YMCA sent out to their members earlier today:

I’m not a member of the YMCA (I train at Graves’ Fitness Center in Mt. Juliet), but a friend who is a member there forwarded this email to me this morning.

As for me, I think it’s pretty funny, but I wonder if the YMCA’s vegetarian members or PETA advocates will be offended?

What do you think?

creepy. i really don’t like it. if the plaid, blade-wielding arm wasn’t in the picture it would be cute, but instead its tacky.

I didn’t even like that. That’s way gross. Especially the plaid shirt. It’s as if it’s young Jason from the Friday the 13th movies honing his skills. Is that pumpkin a chopping block?

OR is the turkey defending the pumpkin remembering the wholesale slaughter of pumpkins for the last major holiday, Halloween? That noble bird. Maybe we should reconsider Benjamin Franklin’s proposal, eat Bald Eagles on Thanksgiving and transfer the title of National Symbol to the Turkey.

A very provocative picture indeed.

I think it is funny personally. What we should always remember these days is that EVERYTHING offends someone ALL of the time. I have learned to not care too much.

I thought it was funny too, but I have a morbid sense of humor.
