A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said: “If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other’s cups.”
“Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn’t change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it.”
So please, don’t let the cups drive you…enjoy the coffee instead.
Being happy does not mean everything is perfect. It means you have decided to see beyond the imperfection.
This is of course not to be confused with becoming a quarter-centaurian. But then again since a centaur is a half man-half horse creature of mythology, I guess that would have made me a 1/4 horse-3/4 man or vice versa.
So welcome me to my 25th year on this planet…and sorry to all those for whom it has been a very LONG 25 years.
Oh, and if I were a centaur today, this is how it might look:
Don’t forget to whip out those tender Schwetty Balls at your Christmas dinner and parties this year…they’re even a tasty New Year’s Eve treat too:
Check out my post on my other blog, The Fun Times Guide to Living Green, which also includes this video and gives some ideas of what to do with all those upcoming holiday leftovers (and wasting them is NOT on the list).
Since you spend so much time in your web browser, why would you not want to enjoy looking at it?
Who wants to deal with clunky themes that break FF extensions, require multiple browser restarts, and get updated before you can even get it tweaked the way you want it?
Enter Personas for Firefox. This gem of an extension is lightweight and unintrusive, allowing you to theme your browser window with ease.
Personas is a prototype that builds upon the ideas that:
themes today are too hard to find, install and use
graphic designers should be able to style the browser without having to code
browsers can be more than just desktop software, they can include online components
people just want their computer to be a little more fun and personal
All the themes I’ve played with look VERY nice. Check out the snowman or reigndeer themes to keep you in the holiday spirit.
UPDATE: The owner saw one of my signs, called me, and is now reunited with their doggie. Hooray!
This female dog just followed my two dogs and I home from our walk.
She is grayish in color, I think she looks like she’s a pit bull, seems to have recently given birth, and has a pink collar with faux diamond studs on it.
The collar also has part of a leash that apparently tore off, leading to her escape.
Currently she’s on a 25 foot leash in my front yard in Hermitage. I gave her food (albeit large breed puppy food) and water of which she barely touched. This makes me think she hasn’t been missing for too long.
If this is your pooch or you know who she belongs to, give me a call at 310-7031.
